B + O is a design practice dedicated to engaging our clients in the in the fun + creativity of the design process. We have over thirty years of combined experience in architectural/ environmental design + construction across the US. We always seek to explore the tactile + emotive potential of the surfaces + spaces around us, and use materials, systems, and concepts that that make design affordable, accessible, responsible, and beautiful.
Following school, Lara + Scott moved to Seattle where they worked + lived for twelve years. Their experience in architecture, design, construction and fabrication projects ranges from custom homes + commercial interiors, to aquatic environments, zoo exhibits, interpretive centers, and educational + park facilities.
In June 2005, Berkley + Ogden relocated to the Southeast to (re)form their lives and practice in Wilmington, NC. Their design studio operates from a historic light-filled storefront downtown. Lara + Scott deal with each project personally, while collaborating with a group of colleagues, contractors, designers + craftspeople ranging in multi-disciplinary fields. They continue to concentrate on defining what ‘habitat’ is for their clients and users be they human, animal, or plantlife.
We believe that our clients should share + actively engage in the fun + creativity of the design process.
These activities create the building blocks for designs that express how our clients want to live, work, play, learn, and explore. Our goal is to provide more than great design and a high level service. Ultimately, we believe that design should be a rewarding experience for our clients that results in buildings, spaces + environments that are artful, functional, and completely responsive to the unique character of each client + inhabitant.
